Suthersan, S.S., 2002, Natural and Enhanced Remediation Systems, CRC Press/Lewis Publishers, Boca Raton, FL, 419 p. - Excellent review of various in-situ remediation technologies. Dr. Suthersan, remediation expert from Arcadis, has developed a systematic and comprehensive book for the working professional.
Testa, S.M., Winegardner, D.L., 2000, Restoration of Contaminated Aquifers, Petroleum Hydrocarbons and Organic Compounds, Second Edition, CRC Press/Lewis Publishers, Boca Raton, FL, 446 p. - A summary of groundwater remediation techniques with numerous case examples. Written by a geologist (Testa) and an engineer (Winegardner), the book uses both authors’ expertise to provide a multi-disciplinary approach toward groundwater cleanup. The second edition updates this best selling textbook, originally published in 1991.

Meyer, E., 1989, Chemistry of Hazardous Materials, Second Edition, Brady Regents/Prentice Hall, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, 510 p.. - This book summarizes hazardous materials, those that are poisonous, flammable, water-reactive, corrosive, explosive, radioactive, or possess some other property that makes them a health risk. The book describes the hazardous materials in terms of basic chemistry as well as information on safe handling and storage. This book was designed to be used both as a reference as well as a textbook.

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
Lehr, J.H., editor, 1992, Rational Readings on Environmental Concerns, Van Nostrand Reinhold, New York, NY, 841 p.. Lehr has assembled a team of nearly 50 of scientific, medical, political experts to discuss insights on the state of environmental science and alternative interpretations that sometimes are counter to the prevailing ideas and media. This large volume is provocative in tone and tackles wetlands, ozone reduction, radon, forest reduction, acid rain, asbestos, the greenhouse effect and other environmental issues. Although the conclusions of some of the articles are controversial, this insightful book is thought provoking and an interesting read.
